Paris<\/strong> is a city that needs no introduction. \u00a0We arrived in Paris after taking the bullet train from Switzerland, spent the afternoon near the iconic\u00a0Eiffel Tower<\/strong>, took an\u00a0evening cruise on River Seine<\/strong> and then toured the city in the evening through a Paris Illuminations Tour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Bullet Train experience<\/h2>\n
We arrived in Paris on a\u00a0TGV bullet train<\/strong> from\u00a0Berne, Switzerland. It was our family’s first bullet train ride and all of us loved it! \u00a0Upon arrival at Gare Lyon station in Paris, we took a cab to our hotel.<\/p>\n

Finding family accommodations in Paris<\/h2>\n
We decided to stay near Montparnasse<\/strong>\u00a0as it had\u00a0a major train interchange with many lines passing through it. \u00a0There were also a lot of eateries around\u00a0the area. \u00a0 There are many accommodations\u00a0with subway access. \u00a0Here is a listing of accommodations near Gare Montparnasse<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0(train station).<\/p>\n

The Paris Metro<\/h2>\n
The train station at Montparnasse<\/strong>\u00a0is really huge.\u00a0To get from one track to another, we had to walk quite a distance, walked on several travelators and went up and down multiple staircases. \u00a0It was not exactly stroller-friendly and it was especially tiring for my mom and kids.<\/p>\n

Trocadero<\/h2>\n
Our first stop was\u00a0Trocadero<\/strong>\u00a0which is a great place to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower<\/strong> in full view.<\/p>\n

Eiffel Tower<\/h2>\n

After Trocadero, we took a leisurely stroll towards the Eiffel Tower for a closeup view.<\/p>\n
There were three levels on the Eiffel Tower that were opened to visitors. \u00a0When we were there, the ticket queues were extremely long. I found out later that there was a Skip-the-line Eiffel Tower tour where visitors could go up the Eiffel Tower without queuing.<\/p>\n

River Seine Evening Cruise<\/h2>\n
We took an evening cruise along River Seine. Paris was really beautiful in the evening. The Eiffel Tower twinkled, the Notre Dame and other buildings illuminated. \u00a0It was really cold in the evening, even near summer.<\/p>\n

Paris Illumination Tour<\/h1>\n
After the cruise, we took a Paris Illumination tour by minivan to see the Paris lights at night. \u00a0Paris was really beautiful at night. \u00a0Two of the sights we saw was\u00a0the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.<\/p>\n

The Eiffel Tower twinkled on the hour every hour after the sun set. \u00a0It was a lovely sight to see. With the cool breeze, and illuminations all around, it was no wonder why millions fall in love with Paris.<\/p>\n

Tips<\/h2>\n

The TGV bullet train from Switzerland leaves Berne in the morning at around 7.30am and arrives in Gare Lyon station in Paris at around\u00a01pm. \u00a0Depending on where you stay in Paris, you could either get to your hotel by train or just grab a taxi from Gare Lyon station.<\/li>\n
There are different\u00a0river cruises available. \u00a0The one we took in the evening was popular as it was reasonably priced. \u00a0However, it was extremely\u00a0crowded. \u00a0When we travelled in June, the cruise had many teenagers on school trips, so it was very loud and noisy. \u00a0There were other river cruises that\u00a0were less crowded, included dinner and music and looked extremely romantic. You have to pay a lot more for such cruises though.<\/li>\n
The one we took was a package which\u00a0included a\u00a0river cruise and illumination tour by van with pick-up and drop-off at our hotel. \u00a0It was very convenient especially when travelling with young kids.<\/li>\n
The illumination tour might not be suitable in summer because the tour operator might start the tour early before the sun sets, thus you cannot see much of the illumination effect. In June, the illumination tour starts after sunset at around 9pm, so kids might be too tired to enjoy it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
