Sydney is a vibrant city with lots of things to do with kids. It was not difficult to explore Sydney with my 7-month-old baby and the rest of my family.
Transportation
It was easy to move around Sydney using public transportation. I used almost all of the transportation below.
- Airport Link (www.airportlink.com.au)
- Monorail and Light Rail (www.sydneymetro.info)
- City Sightseeing Bus (www.city-sightseeing.com)
- City Rail (www.cityrail.info)
- Sydney Buses (transportnsw.info) that offer free shuttle within the CBD
- Sydney Ferries (www.harbourcityferries.com.au)
For the trip to Blue Mountains and Featherdale Wildlife Park, I booked a day tour from Activity Tours (www.activitytours.com.au)
Accommodations
There are many accommodation options in Sydney. When travelling by public transportation, I usually prefer to stay within walking distance of the transportation. Click accommodations in Sydney for listings.

Do you know of other great places to bring the kids in Sydney? Do share.
Hi, Just like you I will also be going to Sydney with my two kids next month. There are so many things to do in Sydney that I got confused what to do and what to leave. The Opera House is certainly on my list. I am a little confused between Taronga Zoo or Sydney Aquarium. How much time did you require for the Aquarium? Will 3 hrs be enough time there? I would have loved to visit both but seems impossible. I am planning for only 4 days so the schedule is going to be a little tight. But taking clues from your itinerary and my trip planner I think I will be making the most of my trip. Thanks so much.
Hi Erica. I would suggest to go to both Taronga Xoo and The Aquarium. My kids loved both. It only takes about 1-2 hours to visit the aquarium. You can visit Taronga Zoo in the day and return by 3 or 4pm and enjoy the rest of the day at the harbour and opera house. On the day that you visit the aquarium, you can also visit Darling Harbour and the Sydney tower.
Hey Rosie, Thanks so much for replying. I will be correcting my itinerary as you suggests here. Thanks again. If I can complete all those places in a day, nothing like it.
