A farm stay in New Zealand is a must if you want to experience the authentic kiwi farm life. There are a number of farm stays around New Zealand. We chose Belmont Farm which was near Tirau.
The cosy cedar cottage was in a tranquil rural setting, looking out to a garden and a farm. The cottage had three bedrooms and a kitchen, which was more than enough for our family.
The owner of this farm takes pride in his breed of horses below. The horses at Belmont farm were so friendly that they posed for our camera.
It was great to be able to take a leisurely stroll around the large open spaces around Belmont farm.
There were sheep, flowers and fruit all around the farm.
In the evening, we enjoyed a nice sunset from our little cottage.
The farm stay was a great way to unwind and enjoy the New Zealand countryside with the family.
NEXT DAY: We visited the magical Magical Waitomo Glowworm Caves.
The farm stay was part of our 10-day New Zealand North Island road trip, which included adventures in Ruanuki Cave, Tongariro National Park, a thermal wonderland and a Maori show, an organic farm tour in Rotorua, and sailing in Auckland, the City of Sails.
