On our sixth day in New Zealand, we pumped up our adrenalin by taking the Shotover Jet, explored the historic gold mining town of Arrowtown, witnessed people bungy jumping and did a little bit of shopping at Queenstown Mall.
Shotover Jet
Taking the Shotover Jet is a must-do while in Queenstown, New Zealand. Going at high speed and spinning 360 degrees was so much fun that my son asked to go on the ride again.
The scenery at the Shotover River was also amazing.
Arrowtown
Our next stop was Arrowtown, a historic gold-mining town located on the banks of Arrow River. Although the gold days are over, I read that you can still try to pan for gold on Arrow River with some success. I am not sure how true that is. The chances would probably be 1 in a million.
Now, Arrowtown has a number of cafes, restaurants and shops. The freshly-made scones at one of the cafes in Arrowtown was the best we have ever tried. It was so good I could eat a dozen of them!
Queenstown Mall
After Arrowtown, we made a quick stop at Kawarau Bridge to watch people bungy jump and then went to Queenstown Mall for some shopping.
Queenstown Bay
After exploring the shops at Queenstown Mall, we rested near Queenstown Bay before heading back to the hotel.
Where we stayed
When we were in Queenstown, we stayed at Sherwood Hotel. Can you believe that the spectacular view below is right at the back door of our room? See details of the hotel here at Booking.com (Sherwood).
Next day: Bungy Jump, followed by Puzzling World and three gorgeous lakes i.e. Lake Wanaka, Lake Pukaki and Lake Tekapo.
