The huge Moeraki Boulders lie scattered along Koekohe beach 40 kilometres south of Oamaru. According to one of the Maori legends, the Moeraki boulders were eel baskets from a large voyaging canoe washed ashore hundreds of years ago. When I saw the boulders, it reminded me of the eggs in some Hollywood movies like Jurassic Park and Godzilla.
Isn’t it interesting how the huge boulders below were almost perfectly spherical? Where did they come from? How did they become so round?
