Our New Zealand South Island road trip began as we drove from the city of Christchurch towards the countryside at Canterbury Plains and Caroline Bay in Timaru.
I scream for Ice Cream!
We could not resist a pit stop at Tip Top for their yummy ice cream. There were so many refreshing flavours to try. This was the first of our many ice cream pit stops.
Caroline Bay
When we arrived at Caroline Bay, the weather was extremely cold and windy that we had to put on our thickest clothing. However, about 15 minutes later, the weather turned extremely hot! This was the first and only time, my family had ever experienced extreme weather temperatures within less than half an hour!
The fresh air and open space was a great setting for a simple family picnic.
A Victorian Treat
In Oamaru, we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by locals dressed in Victorian clothes.
Next Stop: We continued our road trip to Moeraki Boulders before heading to a farm stay.
