Pulai Springs Resort Malaysia

There are some holidays where you want to open a map, put on a good pair of walking shoes and explore the best of what the city/country has to offer.  There are some where you want to get away, do nothing and just relax and spend some quality time with the family, even if it is just for a day. One such place that my family went that is less than an hours’ drive from Singapore’s checkpoint is Pulai Springs Resort Malaysia in Johor Bahru. Not surprisingly, many visitors to Singapore stay overnight in Johor as it is much cheaper....

Legoland Water Park Malaysia

Legoland Water Park Malaysia is the world’s largest of all Legoland Water Parks around the world,  and my kids had a day of fun there recently.   The “Big” Slides Without wasting any time, we headed straight to the big slides and took the raft down the Red Rush water slide. The raft, which was big enough to fit all five of us, was mild enough even for my 5-year-old. This was the only slide that ended in a pool.  The rest of the big slides that we tried ended in very shallow water, like the the photo on the...

Kintamani and Ubud

On our first full-day trip around Bali, we had a jam-packed itinerary from morning to night.  We started the morning with a Barong and Kris Dance near Ubud, followed by Ubud’s batik painting, wood carving, and silver making. After which, we headed to Kintamani to see a volcano and a coffee plantation.  On our way back to Ubud, we stopped by the Rice Terraces at Tegalalang. In Ubud, we watched a Balinese dance performance under the moonlight at the Ubud Water Palace.   Barong and Kris Dance The Barong and Kris Dance is a dance narrating the fight between...

The Little Big Club Theme Park

Where can you watch a live Barney show, dance with Angelina Ballerina, ride on Thomas the Train and visit Pingu‘s igloo, all under one roof?  The answer is The Little Big Club Indoor Theme Park. The Little Big Club is located on the second and third floors of Puteri Harbour Indoor Theme Park in Johor Bahru Malaysia. While the third floor is dedicated to Thomas the Train, the second floor is where you can find Barney, Angelina Ballerina, Pingu and Bob the Builder.  The first floor is for Hello Kitty, which requires a separate ticket, or a combo ticket.  ...

Tesselaar Tulip Festival

Spring time in Melbourne is the perfect time to visit the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Hundreds of thousands of tulips lined up in long straight rows forming an amazing sea of colours that was truly a sight for sore eyes.   I have a soft spot for tulips and have always wanted to visit the famous tulip gardens in Holland, but with kids in school, the travel dream will remain a dream. Fortunately, when planning the trip to Melbourne, I read up about the Tesselaar Tulip Festival and straight away put it on my itinerary.  I was thankful that the...

Dinosaurs & Mid-Autumn Festival at the Chinese Garden

What do Dinosaurs and the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival have in common? From a historical standpoint, I haven’t the faintest idea. What I do know is that the Singapore Chinese Garden is having a Jurassic Safari during the Mid-Autumn Festival this year. Given that it was the Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival, I was actually expecting huge dinosaur-shaped lanterns at the Chinese Garden, so I was a bit disappointed when they only had life-like versions of the dinosaurs.  Nevertheless, my 3 kiddos had fun playing scavenger hunt and looking for dinosaurs all around the garden.       Apart from hunting for...

Legoland Malaysia

The Legoland Malaysia theme park in Johor Bahru offers a fun-filled day for the family with its Mini Land made from Lego pieces, rides from Lego products and Lego Build and Test zones.   Legoland Miniland The first thing we saw near the entrance was the Miniland.  While the one in Legoland Germany focused on famous landmarks in Europe, the one in Malaysia focused on famous landmarks in Asia.  The intricate details of each Asian monument were amazing.  Do you recognise these places?           From left to right, top to bottom: Thailand (Wat Arun), Brunei, Laos (Patuxai), Malaysia...
