Murren is a cosy mountain village in the Swiss Alps with one of my favourite sceneries in Switzerland. While most tourists to Switzerland visit the famous Jungfraujoch or Mt Titlis, Murren is half-way to the top of the Swiss Alps and offers a stunning scenery that is part green and part snow-capped mountains. To get to Murren, we went to Interlaken Ost train station, took a train to Lauterbrunnen and then a cable car ride.
The scenery in Murren was simply breathtaking. The fact that not many tourists flock there as compared to Jungfraujoch made the place even more special.
We just spent time chilling out in Murren. There was a small playground where the kids played. I sat on the swing with my son and enjoyed the crisp fresh air and the stunning view.
Lauterbrunnen
After Murren, we took the train back to Lauterbrunnen to see the waterfall amidst a majestic landscape.
We bought some take-away food nearby and had an impromptu picnic with the thunderous waterfall behind us.
I noticed that the prices of souvenirs in Lauterbrunnen were much cheaper than the ones in Interlaken.
NEXT DAY: We took the bullet train to Paris and enjoyed a Paris Cruise and an Illumination tour
Our trip to Murren and Lauterbrunnen was part of our 10-day Switzerland and Paris Itinerary which included the medieval city of Bern, a scenic train ride to Zermatt, Matterhorn, Jungfraujoch and Montreux. For tips on planning this trip, click here Planning a family vacation to Switzerland and Paris.
