Legoland Water Park Malaysia is the world’s largest of all Legoland Water Parks around the world, and my kids had a day of fun there recently.
The “Big” Slides
Without wasting any time, we headed straight to the big slides and took the raft down the Red Rush water slide. The raft, which was big enough to fit all five of us, was mild enough even for my 5-year-old. This was the only slide that ended in a pool. The rest of the big slides that we tried ended in very shallow water, like the the photo on the right.
I find that all of the “big” water slides were mild enough for young kids. In fact, this is the first water park I’ve been to where a 5-year old who is 107 cm and above meets the minimum height requirement for ALL the slides. Typically, at that age, the kid would be lucky to be able to go on half the slides. The fact that all water slides without rafts end in shallow water is also great, because parents don’t have to worry about kids struggling in a deep pool at the end of the slide.
The bad news is that big thrill seekers will not enjoy the water slides that much.
Build-a-Raft River
After trying the big slides, we went on the Build-a-Raft River where kids could grab big rubber lego pieces floating on the river and fix them to the side of their “raft”. My kids enjoyed this activity. We went three times around the river!
Water Playground
Next up was the water playground called the Joker Soaker. There were many water slides for the young ones. My 5-year-old girl conquered 5 water slides there. This is an achievement for her because at other water parks before this, she was too afraid to try any of the water slides.
This was one of the slides at the water playground.
DUPLO Splash Safari
If the water playground was not mild enough for the kid, then try the mildest water slides at the Splash Safari. It has a very wide water slide where multiple people can slide down at the same time. I saw mommies sliding down the slide with their babies.
Lego Wave Pool
Our last stop was the Wave Pool. It was totally empty when we first arrived, but it gradually became crowded by noon. Although the waves went on and on continuously, they were quite mild. My daughter, who was afraid of the stronger tsunami wave pools at other water parks, enjoyed this one.
There were cabanas for rent just in front of the wave pool.
As you can see from the big grin on my daughter’s face, you can tell that we had a fun day out at the largest Legoland Water Park in the world.
Tips when visiting the park
- You can buy tickets online from Voyagin (Legoland Malaysia).
- As it tends to rain in the afternoon, it is best to start as early as possible i.e. be at the entrance of the park when the park opens at 10am, with tickets on hand and your swimming gear underneath your normal clothes. (There are toilets outside the entrance to change)
- Head straight to the lockers and book one through the kiosk. The lockers, which can re-open multiple times, costs RM20 for a small one and RM40 for a large one. The kiosks at the front can only rent out small lockers. Go to the back to rent lockers for large lockers.
- Very important Tip – the default password to access your locker is by scanning your finger print. Forget about scanning your finger print, because after being in water for a couple of hours, there is a high chance that the machine couldn’t recognise the finger prints. It happened to a couple of guests. It is better to choose the PIN option instead.
- By getting ready before hand, and not having to queue up at the kiosk to book your locker, you can give yourself 20-30 minutes lead time before others are ready. Use the lead time that you have and head straight for the big slides because the queues for these slides get considerably longer as the day progresses.
By beating the queues, my family was able to complete all the rides within 3 hours!
Accommodations for the family
There are a few accommodations near Legoland Water Park with family rooms:
- Legoland Hotel has two-bedroom units designed in themes like Kingdom, Adventure and Pirate.
- Grand Paragon Hotel – It had a modern two-bedroom family suite with kitchenette, and it is walking distance to KSL shopping mall. The price was also quite reasonable given the size of the suite.
- Pulai Springs Resort (Cinta Ayu Suites) – It has two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites with kitchenette, 3 pools, a few restaurants, a spa and a golf course.
